Today on Genesis Does we’re looking at Mr. Nutz Hoppin’ Mad, an unreleased Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) game where the programmer leaked the source code and a playable build was made from it. If you’d like to try it for yourself I’ll put a link to Hidden Palace here.

This is a sequel to what I can only assume was a moderately successful platformer named Mr. Nutz, and by the time this sequel would have released in 1995 they saw the writing on the wall for both the Genesis and for their would-be mascot and shelved it. I’m not sure it ever would have been a huge success no matter what, but if the controls were tightened up and the levels polished up, there was at least a chance for it to be thought of as a “hidden gem” today. It’s not, but you can see what they were going for at least. Thanks for watching!
