It was bound to happen sooner or later. I started having strange issues while testing the Hyperkin Specialist controller on my TurboGrafx-16, and I thought it might have been my power supply, so I bought a brand new one manufactured by Retro Game Cave. This started out as a product review of their power supply and I am happy with it (the blue LED to show that it’s plugged in is a nice touch) but since I had the same issues all over again I’m forced to conclude either the CPU or the RAM in my TurboGrafx is dying.

It’s not the capacitors since I already had all of those replaced, and it’s not worth it to cannibalize a working TG-16 to repair a dying one, so reluctantly I’m going to have to move on. Farewell TurboGrafx. You had a good 30 year run. Hopefully by the next episode I’ll have a Core Grafx or a PC Engine to show off but who knows how long international shipping will take and whether or not they will work when they arrive?
