This may be one the most fascinating story yet on The PC Engine Files. Circus Lido was advertised in Japanese gaming magazines in the early 1990’s, but at its release date was nowhere to be found, and many collectors operated under the assumption it never got released at ALL.

The few copies that seemed to exist sold for literally thousands of dollars until one day, a whole ton of them showed up on Amazon Japan for 5400 yen each! What?! I’m sure those people who paid thousands for a copy were shitting themselves with anger! It turns out this game wasn’t obscure because it wasn’t released but because it was sold at LIBRARIES instead of video game chains. Subscribe to Mistah MegaManFan for more content!
