21 Emon: Mezase! Hotel Ou has some good things going for it. The cartoon graphics are appealing, the music doesn’t get tiresome quickly, and even without a working knowledge of Japanese you could fumble your way through it since it’s a board game where you roll the dice, collect properties, and compete in mini-games. It’s like Mario Party, Fortune Street or Rockman Board in that respect.

There are three problems though — it’s not that fun without human opponents, it’s hard to develop the properties due to the language barrier, and most egregious of all the game is INSANELY expensive. Due to being the last HuCard ever made for PC Engine it goes for a minimum of $150 loose and double that complete! Play this one in emulation unless you’re a die hard collector who is fluent in the language. Subscribe to Mistah MegaManFan for The PC Engine Files every Tuesday at 8 PM ET.
